| We intentionally work with kids who live in the Bates/Hendricks
neighborhood near Fountain Square on the near south side of Indianapolis and
beyond. We work with schools, juvenile Centers, and any organization which
has kids as its priority. We are involved in local schools as helpers,
tutors, and interested neighbors. our staff is involved on boards,
committees, and organizations within the near Southside community. We
collaborate with a number of organizations including Indianapolis Public Schools, churches, neighborhood
organizations, youth service providers, local merchant, and the Indianapolis
Metropolitan Police Department. How We Do It We develop personal, trusting, long lasting relationships with the youth we serve. Intentionally, we work with kids from kindergarten to 12th grade. Therefore, we have the potential to be part of a child's life for 12 years and beyond. We offer programs and activities after school, summer day camps, sports, tutoring, small groups, mentoring, and other positive situations to be able to impact a child's life on the positive side and to help them make good decisions which will affect their lives forever. We Teach Because we work hard to model what we teach, kids often don't realize that they are being taught. We teach what God's Word, the Bible, has to say about life: how to make choices, how to treat other people, how to prioritize, how to overcome peer pressure, what it means to be a good neighbor (and how to be one), and how to rise after you fall. We work at building character, morals, virtues. We don't have all the answers, but we work with the kids to find answers that will better their lives. We use materials from Jim Burns, James Dobson, Max Lucado, Sean Covey, Warren Wiersbe, Phillip Keller and many, many others. Not every kid we seek, love, disciple , or teach will accept who we are or what we have to say, but our positive messages are presented to encourage them to more closely consider their life choices. We have to always be prepared to give a youth a reason to stay celibate, to avoid gang membership, to avoid criminal activity, to finish high school, and to abstain from using drugs, alcohol or other mind-altering substances. We Mentor Through personal example and unconditional love, we model to the kids how to make positive life choices. We provide leadership examples through speakers, Christian Athletes, and public figures. We follow up these examples with Godly mentors who spend lots of time with kids one-one-one, in small groups, and at K.I.D.S Inc.. activities. Whenever we see kids, we strive to listen and encourage Godly choices. We want them to understand God's promise in Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you ...plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." We Have Fun!
There is no doubt that FUN is key. So we do what they kids like best - we
hang out a lot.
